Raffaele Conforti, PhD, Director and Co-founder of Process Diamond (the first Australian process mining company), has extensive experience in the area of business process management (BPM) and process mining. After obtaining his PhD from the Queensland University of Technology with a thesis titled “Managing Risk in Process-Aware Information Systems”, Raffaele joined the Business Process Management (BPM) Discipline at the Queensland University of Technology. Subsequently, he moved to the University of Melbourne where he held a position as Assistant Professor within the Computing and Information Systems School.

Over the years, Raffaele developed a genuine passion for teaching and has been involved in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels both nationally and internationally. Moreover, he successfully delivered Continuing Professional Education (CPE) courses in the area of Business Process Management to employees from a variety of private companies and government agencies including:

  • Australian Financial Security Authority,
  • Queensland Health,
  • Queensland Department of Education and Training,
  • Queensland Department of Science, Information Technology and Innovation,

Research and Awards

Raffaele’s research interest spans across the wide spectrum of business process management with a particular interest to process mining where he contributed to the development of techniques for process discovery, noise filtering, and conformance checking. As part of his contributions to the field of process mining and BPM, Raffaele received the following awards and nominations:
